I started building http://www.top-gamers.com after studying various industries and our economic situation for quite some time. After not being able to acquire a good-paying job, one for probably lack of effort and two; I have no degree, leaving my job prospects totally undesirable. Do I want to flip burgers? NOT. Do I want to go to work making roughly $10 - $12 per hour at something I would probably dislike and still struggle to pay bills? NOT. Am I stupid or a serf? NOT. I am actually highly self-educated, a self starter, ambitious, great vision, inspired and best of all I have a GREAT attitude. After hearing that President Obama has plans to tax "passive" income by up to 70%, I thought I better get busy.
Ok, so I screwed up, or did I? My intentions and purpose are about putting people to work, including myself. The unemployment situation in the US and even world-wide is deplorable and my heart goes out to all those struggling in this recession-depression.
Everywhere and just about every one participates in some type of “gambling” whether it’s fantasy football, going to a casino, or just making a bet with a friend, and not to mention how the stock market is one big casino. Even our children are a certain type of gambler, spending thousands of hours a year on various games of strategy. Not being much of a gambler myself, I see and listen and even participate once in awhile and enjoy it immensely. Everyone seems to be “doing it”, one way or another.
Inspired at the thought of a great gaming directory, I jumped in and started creating it. I knew there were a lot of grey areas in games and gambling, but not once did I think that online gambling was illegal and that I would not find any “online casinos” located in the USA.
Then I got my news feeds in place and started testing them. Casino news and the doozy, Gambling Law. Test 1; worked. Test 2; worked. Hooray! Then I started reading and here’s a sampling of the headlines I read on my new beautiful site:
The online gambling website Betcha.com has been shut down Washington Supreme Court
Gamblers Take To The Streets In Support Of Bingo Halls
With Casino Coming, Police Raid Illegal Gambling Club
Georgia Republican Deal Gives In To Pressure On Gambling Issue
Police Raids Continue On Illegal Gambling, This Time In Kansas
Gambling Issues Boil Over As Wonderland Track Closes
US Government Nets Another $13.3 Million From Online Gambling
And on and on….thousands of jobs lost, because of our law. Maybe our government is looking at gambling as the cup half empty instead of the cup half full. Or maybe it’s their cup is half full and they are leaving our cup half empty. Sound familiar? But wait. Hasn’t our leaders participated in gambling with our entire financial system? On top of this, there are numerous reports about how our educational system is in shambles and just "not working". But wait. Isn't this were the majority of any type of legal gaming funds go in America? To education?
